Neela: «No sabía cantar bien, pero estaba empeñada en hacerlo»

Entrevistamos a Neela, una de las jóvenes cantantes que está arrasando en redes sociales.

Neelaes una joven cantautora andaluza quien, a través de subir covers en Instagram y YouTube, se está haciendo poco a poco un hueco en la industria musical. Tus Mentiras y Like You son sus dos primeros temas en el mercado, próximamente va a estrenar un nuevo single compuesto y producido durante la cuarentena.

¿Cómo estás llevando la situación en la que nos encontramos?

La verdad es que bastante bien. Como en casa tengo el piano y la guitarra, estoy aprovechando muchísimo para hacer muchos proyectos que tenía en mente.

Entonces, ¿estar confinada no está afectando negativamente a tu carrera profesional?

Cuando empezó todo esto sí que me chocó. Saqué el singley ya tenía en mente todo el tema de la ‘promo’, los conciertos… Pero, en vez de venirme a bajo, lo que hice fue levantarme y hacer cosas que no había hecho hasta ahora o que había dejado de lado, como grabar covers de varios artistas, que han acabado compartiendo mi contenido.

También salí a cantar al balcón, un día a las 20:00h, y subí un trocito de esa canción a mis redes sociales, lleva unas 240.000 reproducciones, y a raíz de esto me ha empezado a seguir mucha gente, me escriben, y por eso he decidido sacarla.

Artistas como Sebastián Yatra han compartido vídeos tuyos en sus redes sociales, ¿cómo te sientes al ver todo esto?

Es algo increíble. Me emociona muchísimo ver cómo alguien comparte algo de lo que hago. Cuando me desperté el otro día, y lo vi, me emocioné, además me comenzó a conocer más gente nueva y me llegan nuevos mensajes y, la verdad, súper bonito.

¿Cuáles son tus referentes musicales?

De referentes te diría principalmente a Alejandro Sanz, me parece como: el maestro. Aunque Vanesa Martín, Pablo López, Pablo Alborán o David Bisbal también me gustan mucho.

¿Cómo empezó tu relación con la música?

En mi casa siempre ha habido muchísima música. De hecho, mi abuelo y mi padre tocaban el piano, y yo desde pequeña siempre estaba escuchando mil canciones y cantando. Lo que pasa es que no sabía cantar bien, pero yo estaba empeñada en hacerlo. Así que, con dieciséis años me apunté a unas clases de canto, y fue allí cuando empezó mi vida de cantante.

¿Dónde fue la primera gala en la que actuaste? 

En Jaén. Fue gracias a una compañera de clases de canto que siempre había participado en las galas benéficas. Entonces un día ella me dijo: “Vente y cantas una canción”. Fue factor sorpresa, solamente lo sabía mi madre, y a mi padre le dijeron “no, déjamela aquí, que se quede en el camerino y que vea todo, cómo se vive”. De repente salí y canté una canción. 

El 14 de diciembre diste un concierto acústico en Granada, ¿cómo recuerdas ese día?

La primera vez que fui lloré al saber que no podía llevar mi piano, ya que siempre voy a mis conciertos con él. Para mí, el piano es mi instrumento.

Sin embargo, esta última vez lo afronté de otra forma y me di cuenta de lo que había avanzado en la música. Llevé a un guitarrista y salió impecable porque, al ser un sitio sin micro, fue muy íntimo.

Muchos artistas dicen que la inspiración llega cuando menos lo esperas, pero para ti, ¿cómo es componer tus propias canciones?

Tengo canciones que he compuesto a raíz de historias mías, te podría explicar cada frase. Uno de estos temas se llama Vuelve. Me parece alucinante ver cómo, al hablar de una una historia tal cual yo la he vivido, haya gente que me diga que parece que se la haya escrito para ellos.

Además, tengo temas contando historias de otras personas, porque al ser muy empática las siento y las puedo contar como si fuesen mías. Hay algunas canciones en las que hablo de sensaciones que no sé explicar, así que me pongo a tocar una melodía y al final lo que hago es ponerle palabras.

Esto significa que, además de las canciones que has lanzado, tienes más compuestas…

Sí, mis conciertos los hago prácticamente enteros de mis canciones. Ahora, dentro de muy poco saco un tema nuevo. Es el que canté en el balcón. Como vi toda la repercusión y la buena acogida que tuvo he decidido grabar una versión acústica con lo que tengo en casa, y la sacaré muy pronto.

Tus Mentiras o Like You, ¿con cuál te quedarías? 

Tus Mentiras es la canción en la que más queda reflejada mi esencia, ese estilo de un poco de todo, esa fuerza, pero a la vez tiene esas partes más flojitas.
